Join us for this year's Annual Celebration as we honor the incredible impact of the Billy Lake Community and the Lake Basketball Marathon! We hope to see you on Friday, November 13, at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia for an inspiring afternoon of connection, recognition, and community.

The celebration will highlight the lasting legacy of Billy Lake and the Lake Basketball Marathon, recognizing the community spirit, leadership, and commitment to making a difference.

The day will also feature a special presentation from the Philadelphia Phillies, recognition of our 2026 Flame of Hope Award recipients, and additional surprises as we celebrate the individuals and organizations making a difference throughout our region.

ALS United Mid-Atlantic is committed to our mission, to unite and empower the ALS community through a collaborative approach to fostering bold research initiatives, advancing national and state advocacy, and providing comprehensive care and support to individuals and families affected by ALS.

Care Services

ALS United Mid-Atlantic is committed to enhancing the quality of life for those living with ALS through comprehensive care programs. We understand the value of those with the disease being able to communicate, function safely in their home, and travel to ALS Treatment Centers for comprehensive evaluation and treatment. Our programs are designed to meet these essential care needs as well as the emotional needs of people living with ALS and their caregivers.

Advocacy

ALS United Mid-Atlantic focuses on state and federal advocacy for research, health & long-term care, and caregiver support. The ALS community's involvement in advocacy has led to increased federal funding for ALS research at the NIH and federal funding for ALS research through the Department of Defense.

Through the power of personal testimony, ALS advocates from ALS United Mid-Atlantic have achieved significant success for the ALS cause.

Research

Collaboration is the cornerstone of our research program. We partner with academia, industry, government, and other nonprofit organizations and lead by spurring long-lasting collaborations among researchers across all sectors, leading to globally shared data, protocols, and research samples to accelerate research progress. The Greater Philadelphia area is one of the top regions in the country for promising ALS research.
